The Mighty Quills Program amplifies the voice of high school students in Hunts Point through creative writing, vocabulary building, and self-expression through the written word.

The Mighty Quills Program gives students the opportunity to participate in an intensive writing program helmed by New York Times-hailed playwright Amina Henry. Students gather weekly and are provided a safe space to discuss and write about topics that are important to their world and community and express themselves through poetry, personal narrative, persuasive essays, and short plays. At the end of the year, selected plays and pieces are read aloud for the community.

Mighty Quills champions self-expression, increases self-confidence, creates community, and strengthens literacy skills necessary for their next steps toward a college and/or career.
