Our Storefront Ensemble scholars had the amazing opportunity to spend a day at Morgan Stanley’s New York headquarters on the third annual Financial Education Day. Through interactive presentations by The Morgan Stanley Team, the seventh and eighth grade scholars learned about saving money for college and different pathways towards a career in finance.
The afternoon started with Mandell Crawley, Head of Private Wealth Management, shared his personal, and inspiring, career journey. To give the scholars an idea of what Financial Analysts do, Mr. Crawley, challenged them to compare and contrast Nike and Under Armour, explaining how the Firm conducts analysis to evaluate which company is a better investment. Private Wealth Manager Chloe Duanshi and Wealth Management Analyst Roger Coleman then facilitated a discussion with the scholars on the value and wisdom of saving for college. The highlight of the evening for many scholars is that they will now get to practice the savings skills they discussed. Thanks to the support of Morgan Stanley, HPAC will open a 529b College Savings Account for each of the Storefront students in the amount of $250, which they and their families can continue to contribute to as they prepare for college. The event concluded with a special dinner at the Morgan Stanley Executive Dining Room.
Thank you to Managing Director Deborah Montaperto and Client Service Associate Jamie Palmer of the Polk Wealth Management Group at Morgan Stanley for hosting our scholars and making this an unforgettable experience.
