HPAC celebrated National College Decision Day at the historic Apollo Theater in Harlem with 25 other New York City academic non-profit organizations, led by HEAF. The event represents the years of effort our scholars and their families put in towards their goal of college, as they participate in HPAC’s Early Childhood, Youth Development and High School programming.
This year’s keynote speaker, New York City Council Majority Leader Laurie A. Cumbo, encouraged all the graduates present to break out of the mentality that the purpose of going to college is “to get out of the hood,” but rather to take this opportunity to grow and develop as leaders to uplift their communities and the generations that come after them.
The highlight of the evening was seeing our very own seniors stand on the Apollo stage as they proudly announced the schools they will attend:
University of Maine
Stonehill College
University at Albany
Lincoln University
College of Holy Cross
CUNY
SUNY Potsdam
College of Saint Rose
Thank you to the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) for creating such an inspirational evening and Congratulations to the Class of 2018!
