Alliance Celebrates School Year’s End with Barbecue

To celebrate a year of successful collaboration, HPAC held the last Alliance meeting of the school year outside at Rocking the Boat and the POINT’s Riverside Park campus.  Culinary students from JVL Wildcat High School prepared a barbecue luncheon for all members to enjoy.

The year marked many individual and collective successes for the Alliance.  During the luncheon schools and community based organization shared the accomplishments of Hunts Point students, including: Rocking the Boats participation in America’s Cup, P.S. 48’s year-end Writing Celebration, the completion of M.S. 424’s first year as renewal school and the implementation of Saturday Academy, the POINT’s annual Fish Parade, and HPAC’s own Celebrate Success Picnic and Field Day.

Rafael Salamanca, Councilman for the 17th District of New York City, joined in the celebration to hear more about the Alliance’s community-focused efforts. HPAC is grateful for the Councilman’s support and the City Council funding for HPAC’s youth development career exploration components.
